Ingredients:
For Marination-
- 30 raw jackfruits
- 1 cup curd
- 1 tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp turmeric
- 2 tsp kasuri methi
- 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 4 tsp Doctors’ Choice Refined Soybean Oil (for frying)
For Curry-
- 4 tsp cooking oil
- 4 bay leaves
- 2 inch cinnamon
- 8 cardamom pods
- 14 cloves
- 2 tsp cumin
- 2 finely chopped onions
- 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 2 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 6 finely chopped tomatoes
- 2 cups water
- ½ tsp garam masala
- 4 tsp finely chopped coriander
Instructions-
- In a large bowl, take 15 pieces of jackfruit. Ensure to soak the fruit in saltwater once chopped to prevent it from getting discolored
- Add ½ cup curd, ½ tsp chili powder, ¼ tsp turmeric, 1 tsp kasuri methi, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste, ¼ tsp salt, and ½ tsp garam masala
- Mix well and marinate it for 30 minutes
- Heat 2 tbsp Doctor’s Choice Refined Soybean Oil and add the marinated jackfruit
- Fry on a medium flame until the kathal is cooked well. Remember to keep aside once done
- In a large kadai heat 2 tbsp of oil. Add 2 bay leaves. 1 inch cinnamon, 4 cardamom pods, 7 cloves, and 1 tsp cumin. Saute the mixture until the spices turn aromatic
- Add 1 onion and 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- Saute the onions until they turn golden brown
- Turn the flame low and add ½ tsp turmeric, 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, ½ tsp cumin powder, and ½ tsp salt
- Saute the same until the spices turn aromatic
- Add 3 tomatoes to the mixture and stir well
- Cook until the tomatoes turn soft
- Add in the fried jackfruit and mix it well
- Add 1 cup of water and mix well to maintain consistency
- Cover and simmer it for 15 minutes or until the jackfruit is cooked well
- Add ¼ tsp garam masala and 2 tsp coriander. Mix all well
